Happy Birthday to me!

Isaac just a few days ago bought a Honda Grom and got it for just under $4,000 brand new.

He suggested I get one, and I thought for a second.... Why NOT!

So I did some homework online and looked around.  And found lots of Groms for sale.  This little bike is small and very popular.  It's a 125cc which is pretty small.  But given the bike itself is small, it's fine and gets you from one point to another.  Isaac let me test drive it and it was pretty nice.

During my search for bikes to purchase I got wind of another Honda which is slightly bigger and just as economical to drive.  It's automatic which means I don't have to mess around with a clutch and don't have to deal with any foot controls.  Just throttle and brake. That's it. It's a 150 cc and slightly bigger.  Grom weight is 227 pounds compared to ADV150 weight of 294 pounds.

I found one for sale down in south Salt Lake at Karl Malone Powersports.  I saw an ad for it for $4800. I called in and put a down payment on in to hold it so they wouldn't sell it until I get down there on my birthday in a couple days.

When I got home Cathi took this picture
minus my gear.
Cathi and I went down and with taxes, registration, dealer fees, shipping fees, assembly, it came to over $6800!  I was pissed.  Cathi was too.  The sales guy didn't want us to leave so we were able to talk to him and he was able to waive a few things, and got the price down to $6,320 out the door.  I was disappointed, but was really hoping to get this bike.  Cathi was nice and said, "It's up to you".  Which could be code for "and if you do, I'll hold it against you for quite a while".  But she didn't say No.  So I said OK.  Let's do it.

So I bought a helmet there and drove away within an hour for the ride home.  It was fun!

My first ride that evening out to West Point to
watch the sunset.
